Finding the Right Writing Assistant:

We have undergraduate and graduate students from various disciplines who work as Writing Assistants. To learn about our Writing Assistants, please consult this webpage: https://in.nau.edu/university-writing-commons/meet-our-writing-assistants/. Graduate students should schedule appointments with graduate-level Writing Assistants whenever possible.

Fall 2024 Schedule

This schedule is for all Flagstaff Mountain Campus, Online, Personalized Learning, and Statewide students. We have online options available only on this schedule.

  • The schedule shows the full week, starting with the Monday of each week
  • On the left Writing Assistants are shown in random order, with their locations/mediums next to their name (e.g. Amanda M. - Online). If signing up for an online appointment please make sure the "online" bubble is checked on the student form; otherwise your appointment will be in person at the designated location.
  • There is a waiting list available under each day, which you can add yourself to if there are no more available slots during that time.
  • For more information on color-coding, utilizing the platform, or holding your online appointment please consult our https://in.nau.edu/university-writing-commons/wc-online/

Review-and-Return Dropbox

This schedule is available to all students taking classes during the Fall 2023 semester. All papers will receive focused feedback on the following:

  • 1 or 2 higher order areas: thesis, argument, analysis, organization, etc.
  • Up to 1 lower order area: grammar, syntax, citation, word choice, etc.

Please provide specific details about the areas in which you would like feedback. Please note that this is not a copy-editing service. Our Writing Assistants will not edit, proofread, or rewrite your paper. Instead, based on the areas you specify, you will receive feedback on how you might improve your paper. Students looking for instruction on how to make grammatical type improvements to their writing may benefit more from synchronous appointments.

To utilize this schedule, please click on an available appointment slot and then upload the project you are working on. Be as specific as possible about the kind of feedback you would like (1-2 higher order areas and up to 1 lower order area).

Your Writing Assistant will spend 50 minutes reading over your paper and providing feedback, and will return your work within 48 hours of the day listed (e.g. Monday writing slot time will be returned with feedback by Wednesday at midnight). Please note that due to time constraints, our Writing Assistants may not be able to review longer papers in their entirety and/or may not be able to address all areas you specify.

Your Writing Assistant will upload you paper and feedback back into the appointment slot, so please consult your appointment details for the reviewed paper. You will also receive an email when the reviewed paper is uploaded into the appointment slot. Please do not make simultaneous synchronous and review-and return dropbox appointments for the same paper without prior permission from the Program Coordinator.
